A traffic check took place this Friday, November 4 at the roundabout of the Polygon in Perpignan.
This Friday, November 4, at the beginning of the afternoon at the Polygone roundabout in Perpignan, police officers from the departmental directorate of public security, gendarmes from the mobile squadron of Sain-Etienne-lès-Remiremont, who arrived as reinforcements from at the beginning of October, and the CRS of the zonal motorcycle unit organized a major roadside check.
The latter also arrived as reinforcements, from November 1 until November 8, with the main objective of ensuring safety on the roads: “We are 13, 11 bikers and the agents of the radar car”, explains Chief Sergeant Philippe Ségala. And so far, the checks have been successful: “In three days, we checked 18 people in default of insurance. I did the calculation, that represents 8% of checks. It’s impressive, we reach that nowhere, not even in Marseille”he wonders.

Speed violations are also important. Also since their arrival, the mobile CRS have reported no less than 420, nearly 150 per day: “And these are not small excesses, we are regularly at 90 km / h on an axis limited to 50”advances the brigadier-chief.
This Friday, around 200 vehicles were checked by the police: 10 faults in the driving license, insurance, or technical inspection were noted, around twenty people were fined. Three vehicles were impounded and three people were arrested, including one for violation of the legislation on foreigners, lack of insurance and license, and because he was the subject of a search file.
