If most of the lights are green, the future could not be all rosy. Microsoft announced good performance in the first quarter, which ended at the end of September. Revenue was $50.12 billion, up 16% at constant exchange rates. Net profit fell less than expected (by 14%, to 17.56 billion), to $2.35 per share, when the consensus was for $2.29.
The Intelligent Cloud division, which oversees server-related products and services, saw its sales jump 26% to 20.3 billion. Microsoft Chief Financial Officer Amy Hood, however, said growth in this business would slow by 5 percentage points in the current quarter. Which raises questions, because this segment is driving growth.
