Microsoft says monthly Windows 11 usage is steadily increasing

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella praised Windows 11 during the company’s latest earnings conference call, explaining that the new operating system records higher monthly usage.

Nadella also revealed that despite the change in trend in the PC market, total sales are still exceeding pre-pandemic levels, and of course, Microsoft is one of the companies benefiting from strong demand for new computers.

Despite the evolution of the PC market during the quarter, we continue to ship more PCs than before the pandemic and we are taking share. And we’re seeing an increase in monthly Windows 11 app usage, with more time spent on creative work, collaboration, gaming, media, and writing code, as people rely on the PC for its unique productivity capabilities, rich interactive experiences and to stay connectedNadella said.

The software giant’s CEO also praised the adoption of Azure Virtual Desktop and Windows 365, including comparing the quarter’s results with those of the same quarter a year earlier.

We’re transforming the way Windows is experienced and managed with Azure Virtual Desktop and Windows 365. Azure Virtual Desktop monthly active usage grew nearly 60% year-over-year. A year later, we’ve seen strong adoption of Windows 365 by organizations across all industries — from Hamburg Commercial Bank and Kyndryl to LEGO Group and Schroders — who are using Cloud PCs to quickly onboard new hires and temps, and accelerate the integration of mergers and acquisitions, while reducing IT costsNadella said.

Microsoft Edge is gaining momentum

The Microsoft CEO also praises Edgebecause the browser keeps gaining shares, especially with consumers. Based on Chromium, the new Edge browser is available not only on Windows, but also on macOS, Linux, iOS and Android.

We are focused on increasing our share and engagement across Edge, Bing, and our Microsoft Start custom content feed. Daily content consumption on Start in categories such as news, weather, finance and sports has increased 80% since the service launched a year ago. And, Edge continues to gain share as consumers use it to save money with our built-in coupon and price comparison features.Nadella says.
