Microsoft in the dark because of Azure

Revenue growth from Azure, which enables businesses to store their computer data and software, is expected to decline about 5 percentage points excluding currency impact in the current quarter from the prior, said Microsoft’s chief financial officer , Amy Hood, during a conference call with analysts on Tuesday.

The cautious comments dashed hopes that strong demand for cloud services, one of Microsoft’s main growth drivers, would allow the group to offset the sharp slowdown in the PC market. Azure sales grew 42% in the first quarter, which ended in late September, suggesting 37% growth for the quarter to the end of December.
