Microsoft could take on Apple’s iMac with the Surface Studio 3

It seems like Microsoft may be preparing to launch the Surface Studio 3 all-in-one PC at an event in October 2022. When invites for the event, which takes place on October 12, 2022, started rolling in, a lot of attention was focused on possibly seeing the Surface Pro 9 or Surface Laptop 5. However, as Windows Latest points out , we could see more niche products from Microsoft, including a possible Surface Studio 3.

This rumor stems from a recently released US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) document in which Microsoft describes a “desktop computer” that may have Surface branding. Although other information is scanty, it is currently believed that this may hint at the existence of the Surface Studio 3.

Microsoft’s Surface Studio line is all-in-one desktop PCs, with computing components integrated into a display, making them a convenient, space-saving alternative to traditional desktop PCs.

Perhaps the best-known all-in-one computer is Apple’s iMac, and Microsoft clearly wanted its Surface Studio devices to dethrone Apple’s dominance in this market. However, despite decent critical reception, the Surface Studio range failed to catch on with consumers.

The high price compared to its rivals certainly didn’t help.

Roll on October 12

Microsoft hasn’t released a sequel since the Surface Studio 2 launched in 2018. In the meantime, Apple has released several new iMacs, including a new 24-inch iMac with an attractive and colorful new design.

So if Microsoft is preparing a new Surface Studio 3, it has a lot to do. State-of-the-art components without a price tag! While the Surface Studio has always been aimed at creative professionals, if Apple competes on price with the more popular iMac, then the Surface Studio will never take off. Hopefully we’ll find out more on October 12.
