Microsoft announces the next generation of its Surface line of tablets, along with two new accessories

During the soberly named Microsoft Surface Event 2022 which was held on October 12, 2022, the company behind Windows celebrated ten years of its Surface product line. This was an opportunity to present the new generation of products making up this range. Thus, it is the Surface Pro 9, Surface Laptop 5 and Surface Studio 2+ that have been unveiled.

Surface Pro 9

Surface Pros are Windows-based tablets. This version offers a 13-inch screen, with a resolution of 2880 x 1920 and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. For the CPU, the consumer has the choice between a twelfth generation Intel CPU (Thunderbolt 4 compatible) or an ARM SQ3 CPU from Microsoft (Qualcomm Snapdragon). The latter allows 5G connectivity. As for autonomy, the manufacturer announces 15 hours with the Intel CPU and 19 hours with the ARM CPU. RAM and hard disk capacity can also be customised: from 8 to 32 GB of LPDDR5 RAM memory for the x86 model versus 8 or 16 GB of LPDDR4x RAM memory for the ARM model. Likewise, storage can range from 128 GB to 1 TB for the Intel model versus 128 to 512 GB for the ARM model.

Surface Laptop 5

As for laptops, there is the Surface Laptop 5 with two screen models: a 13.5 inch with a resolution of 2256 x 1504 pixels and a 15 inch with a resolution of 2496 x 1664 pixels. These embed a twelfth generation CPU from Intel (i5 or i7) with a configuration ranging from 8 to 32 GB of LPDDR5 RAM memory as well as 256 GB to 1 TB for storage.

Surface Studio 2+

Finally, the Studio range also receives an update. As a reminder, these are 2 in 1 (autonomous screen) with the particularity of offering a Zero gravity hinge allowing the screen to be tilted as the user wishes.

Here, we find a 28-inch screen with a resolution of 4500 x 3000 pixels, an eleventh generation Intel CPU (i7 H series), 32 GB of RAM, an RTX 3060 graphics card (6 GB of GDDR6) and 1TB SSD storage. Studio 2+ is installed with Windows 11 Pro.
