Atypical design with a successful finish
The Amazon Fire TV Cube measures 8.61 x 7.69 x 8.61 cm for 465 grams. This multimedia box has basic buttons for physical manipulation: control the volume, mute the microphones and start Alexa. A remote control is also included to perform common functions. A blue light indicates that the box is waiting for your requests. If it turns yellow, the device cannot connect to a wireless network.
Connection level is well equipped. There is HDMI 2.0 which is plugged into the TV. We are also entitled to a micro USB 2.0 port on which we can connect compatible accessories or make an Ethernet port via a hub. To control TV peripherals, an IR receiver is included. Simply plug it into the infrared socket on the box and you’re done. A socket completes this component.
Alexa takes control
Amazon Fire TV Cube supports various advanced technologies. For sound, we have Dolby Atmos and 7.1 surround sound. On the video side, we are entitled to Dolby Vision, HDR 10, HDR10+, HLG or even VP9. And to ensure 4K at 60 frames per second, the Fire TV Cube has an ARM core chip coupled with 2GB of RAM to 16GB of storage. It also allows you to play some games from the application store.
There is of course Bluetooth 5.0 and WiFi 5. Thanks to the HDMI CEC protocol, you have control over your television through Alexa. With your voice, you can ask the virtual assistant to start or pause videos or programs, configure the functions of your TV. Among other things, the cube can be used as a connected speaker and thus control other devices.
