Amazon, Mondial Relay, Lidl… These imposing logistics bases in Brittany – Economy

  • 1 Amazon launches deliveries from Briec

  • The giant Amazon launched its activities on Thursday from its 7,000 m2 agency, the location of which in Briec (29) has aroused much controversy. The site employs around 30 people – 40 targeted by the end of 2022 – and employs around 40 delivery people recruited by two local partners. The site receives parcels from the group’s sorting and distribution centers before delivering them within a maximum radius of 150 km.

  • 2 The Mondial Relay platform operational on November 14 in Carhaix

  • 5,000 m2, €5 million investment, 40 FTE jobs, 50,000 parcels handled per day by the end of 2022 then a rate increased to 70,000, rotations of eight trucks and 25 vans per 24 hours. The new Mondial Relay platform will be operational on November 14 in Carhaix (29), along the RN164. “We are at saturation point in Rennes, with business growth of 30% in recent years. And we have seen a net boom in e-commerce in Central Brittany. From Carhaix, we will deliver and collect parcels in Finistère, 50% of Côtes-d’Armor and Morbihan”, describes Sang-Duky Lescarret, regional director of operations.

  • 3 New Lidl base in March 2024 in Châtelaudren Plouagat

  • 56,000 m2, €90 million investment, 120 truck rotations per 24 hours to serve 62 Lidl supermarkets in Finistère, Morbihan and Côtes-d’Armor, 200 jobs for logistics operators, including 75 recruitments on permanent contracts and 15 student jobs. After the fire which ravaged 16,000 m2 last June, the Lidl logistics platform, under construction in Châtelaudren Plouagat (22), near the RN12, “we plan to start it in March 2024”, indicates Cédric Roux, the director regional Lidl in Brittany. “Our base in Ploumagoar (22) is reaching saturation point and we needed a more suitable logistics tool to distribute to all the families of products that we offer elsewhere but not here, where we outsource part of them”, adds he.

  • 4 In Neulliac, the Intermarché base handles 46 million parcels

  • 70,000 m2, 46 million packages per year, 200 trucks per 24 hours, €50 million investment, 320 permanent jobs. The impressive Intermarché base has been fully operational, in Neulliac (56), since the beginning of the year. Twenty additional permanent jobs have been created since January 2022.

  • 5 ID Logistics France will set up in Saint-Caradec in 2023

  • A plot of nearly 10 hectares purchased for €1.73 million from Loudéac Communauté, 48,000 m2 of warehouse at least partly reserved for DIY stores,? around fifty loading and unloading docks, around 100 full-time equivalent (FTE) jobs foreseen. ID Logistics France, which did not respond to our requests, is thinking big in Saint-Caradec (22), with this installation classified for the protection of the environment.
