Alpine skiing. Dave Ryding is launching a crowdfunding campaign for the UK team!

Over the summer, UK Sport, which funds the vast majority of British winter sports, decided to turn off the tap. A real blow, especially for athletes who find themselves helpless in the face of a lack of funds. To balance the budget, Dave Ryding decided to appeal to everyone’s generosity through crowdfunding.

The development of top-level British athletes in winter sports is largely at risk. The reason: financial resources reduced to almost nothing following the decision by UK Sport to cut funding for winter sports.

A decision that has a major impact on athletes, coaches, technical staff and employees of the British Federation. Still, the results have been there in recent years. With especially slalomer Dave Ryding, who won the legendary slalom in Kitzbühel last season.

The 35-year-old skier mobilizes by launching a crowdfunding campaign. The first goal of this crowdfunding is to reach the sum of 500,000 pounds (593,450 euros).

“We remain hopeful that some sponsors will join us and support in the long term, but at this time any help you can give us as a team will be appreciated more than you think,” writes Dave Ryding on his Instagram account.

This kitty is off to a positive start, with more than 450 donations arriving in four days totaling more than £35,000 (€41,541).
